Meeting My New Friends Again!

We had a practice session yesterday morning at 9.30am. It was a little early, but I made it a point to wake up early because I was excited to see my new friends again.

There were seven of us and they are, from left to right: Nana, Me, Dali, Pudding, Wenwen, Belle and Yummy.

I have so many photos to share and it is quite impossible to upload them one by one, so please enjoy the 3 slide shows below.

We had a wheelchair pushed around us and sat next to the wheelchair to have our hair brushed by the person sitting on it. Belle's dad also dropped a pole and a book beside us to help us get accustomed to sudden noise. To be a Dr. Dog, we also have to get used to being touched and hugged by strangers. Mom's favorite part of the session was going around hugging the dogs.

Someone brought a paper tube which looks like a fire cracker for noise distraction and it gave a scary ghostly sound. Belle's dad went around and read a book aloud near each and everyone of us. A little girl also provided noise distraction using her camera which lets out a cat's meow.

Then we also have to stay in position while people threw, bounced and rolled balls in front of us. That one was a little difficult for me, I really find it very hard to stay still when a ball rolled in front of me. Of course, I had to break my stay to go after it. I will have to work harder on this one.

After that we went for lunch at the pet cafe that Mom brought me the other day with two other classmates. It was nice to see the little boy Xiao Xuan and Ah Xi the resident dog again.

Something in the glass window showcase caught Belle the husky's attention as soon as we stepped in. She was totally facinated by a sugar glider, a squirrel like creature from Australia and stared at it for a really long time.

During lunch, Pudding's family shared their Dr. Dog service experience and Belle's family shared with us the benefits of clicker training.

After that, we went to buy some more treats in preparation for my first advanced class this afternoon.

It was a tiring day for all of us, but I am definitely looking forward to next week's session. Special thanks to to Dali's Mom and her friend for allowing us to use the room in his photography studio and also Pudding's family for the wheelchair and pole. And thanks to Belle's family for bringing a metal pot and ladle for noise distraction too! All these props were great for simulating the actual test and once again, many thanks to everyone for attending and making this session a really fruitful one.

See you all again soon and have a great week!

Update:
A2 Mom, owner of Nana and Wenwen takes the most awesome photos and Mom just had to request from her the photos she took of us. Here are the four pics that she took, check out more amazing photos at A2 Mom's blog at http://blog.yam.com/adamas
