Home Sweet Home!

Yay! I have arrived safely at home yesterday. Thanks to everyone for your concern, thoughts and prayers during this adventure. I am doing great at home, there are so many new sights and smells and I am having a good time exploring all the new places. I arrived at around 10am yesterday morning and Dad and Mom brought me to the Da-An Park 大安森林公園, it is the biggest green area in downtown Taipei and just 10 minutes walk away from home. It is modeled after Central Park in New York and inaugurated in 1994.

The park is huge and you can find all kinds of trees, a bamboo forest, colorful flowers, a lake, an open-air music stage and a children playground. There are also basketball courts and in line skating rinks. At any time of the day, you can find people walking, running, cycling, playing and dancing. And of course, here you can see many of our furry friends too.

After playing in the park, we went to Grandma Nitti's, a very pet friendly restaurant where breakfast is served all day long. Then, we went to a pet store to take a bath, I haven't had one for 3 weeks! The pet store has one of those dryers that look like an oven, it's nice and warm in there and I stayed in it for about 45 minutes until I am thoroughly dried.

After the bath and grooming session, we headed for home, it was a really long day for me and I slept very well on the first night at my new home. Here is a video clip of the day's event, enjoy! Woof Woof!!!

Woohoo! Going Home Tomorrow!

Yay!!! Finally, I will be going home tomorrow! It has been a really long time away from home, I am so glad it is coming to an end. Yesterday, was my 22nd month birthday, but there was no visiting appointment, so Mom only managed to take my birthday photo today.

Mom is going to be really busy today, she has to clean up and dino-proof the house to welcome me home. Dad has taken the day off tomorrow, I think they are bringing me to the park tomorrow....ooooohhhhh....I can't hide my excitement any longer.

The quarantine station is almost completing their renovation works. There is a nice poster of dogs and cats who have been in quarantine there on display in their new reception area.

These packs of Kleenex tissue papers were spotted at the convenience store, the labrador puppies on them are so cute, we have to find a way to stop mom from buying all these stuff with cute puppies on them.

A Friend in Need

Mum visited me today, we played fetch for a while and then I got bored, so mum gave me a nice relaxing massage as I gnawed on my giant bone.

As mum was leaving the hospital, she met a group of students with a golden retriever. Mum found out that the golden was found outside the university and they brought him to the vet at the animal hospital which I am in. Unfortunately, they were not allowed to have the golden checked because the hospital does not attend to strays and the dog did not have a micro chip on him.

However, they did find out that the golden is about 5 years old from the vet. It looked more like a puppy or a medium sized dog to mum because he is a lot smaller than I. The poor boy also has some skin problems and he has patches all over his body, I really hope that he is just lost and not being abandoned to the streets. We have created a page for him at my site to help him find his way home. You can see it here , please keep your fingers, toes and paws crossed that my friend finds his family soon.

I want to go Home

Just 9 more days to go, I can't wait to go home. I can't stop whining every time mum leaves after her visits. It always breaks her heart, but I really hate to be left alone.

Here is a clip of my second week in quarantine.

Niwo lives in a seamstress shop in my neighborhood. His name is really cute, it means You and Me in Chinese. He is adorable, he trots behind his owner whenever she rides on her motorcycle. I am going to be friends with him when I get to go home. His owner says he is not very friendly, I hope he will like me and we can become good friends. Here are some photos and a short clip of my new friend, Niwo.

A not so nice surprise for Mummy

As most of you already know, I am now in the animal hospital fulfilling my 21-day quarantine stay before I can go home. Mummy came to drop off a big bone and some toys on Saturday, but I didn't get to see her as there are no appointment slots on weekends.

Then Monday came and Mummy visited at 9.45am, but was told to come back at exactly 10am. I had a surprise for mummy...... I have developed a small hot spot on my forehead over the weekend. sigh.... mummy is worried that it will get worse like the last time and I had to be shaved bald, so she spoke to the vet. Vet said she will give me some medication and put the e collar on me.

After that, we spent an hour and a half playing in the visitor room. Mum and Dad had scoured the pet stores, but couldn't find Timberwolf and so they brought my new food, it is called Oven-baked Tradition - Fish Recipe from Canada, hopefully that will be good for my sensitive skin.

Will keep you all updated during my stay, just 17 more days to go!

Here is the latest clip of me at Quarantine:

Have you missed me?

Don't worry, my friends! I have not gone missing, I was just busy preparing for my big move. I have arrived in Taipei safe and sound and I am now fulfilling the 21-day compulsory quarantine stay at the animal hospital. First, just to let you all know that I am fine, here is a photo of me on the first day of arrival:

I hate to be away from Daddy and Mummy, they are only allowed to visit me 3 times a week, but I am quite comfortable here, the quarantine center is clean and I have my own cubicle, the vets here are really nice too!

Really sorry for making some of you so worried about me, will give you all more updates as we go. Meanwhile, don't miss me that much, I will be home soon! Take care, everyone! Woof!

You Tube is blocked in China

YouTube has been GFW’d (Great FireWalled) in China, this adds to the list of the ever growing banned sites in China. By the way, blogspot is also banned on and off, I can update my blog, but I am not able to reply to the comments from time to time, so please forgive me when I don't reply. YouTube has been blocked for 2 weeks now and I am devastated as I have not been able to upload any videos. I am keeping my paws crossed so that I can connect to my YouTube friends again.

Anyhow, here is my latest video uploaded directly to blogger:

My Mon Ami Collar arrived in the mail!

Yippee!!!! My Mon Ami collar which is one of the many prizes I won for winning the "Best Trick" title at Worldwide Fido arrived today.

Mum ordered it in Bright Orange/Chocolate Brown color and in extra large size for me. It came with a nifty velcro pouch to carry poop bags and it can be attached to my collar or leash. I think it added a very nice touch to my new nylon collar. Overall, I love it and thanks again to everyone who voted for me.

Vaccination Day Today

Mum brought me for my rabies jab at the Shen Pu Pet Hospital today. It has been raining all day since last night and I have just been lounging around, so it was fun going out for the short ride to the hospital.

As usual, I was a good boy and did not struggle at all when the doctor administered the injection. Do I deserve a pat or what?

Mum also asked for some de-worming tablets for me and so the doctor had to weigh me in order to prescribe the exact dosage. I weighed in at 37kg, looks like I have not lost any weight despite the intensive exercise with Dad during the last one week. Time to watch my diet again! Sigh....

The doctor gave me four Drontal Plus tablets, each tablet for 10kg of my weight. I can only take them five days later though because of the vaccination. Doc also told me to drink lots of water.

Doctor also told me to keep dry and shower only one week later. As soon as we got home, mum had to dry me off with a hairdryer because we both got wet in the rain. I hope it will stop raining tomorrow because I miss seeing my friends in the garden. Today, I will just take a good rest.

Mummy and Her Bruised Knee

Daddy has been back since last week and we have been spending many afternoons in the garden with lots of fetching and heeling exercises. Daddy noticed that there is a marked improvement in my behavior since 2 months ago and was rather pleased. Am I a good boy or what? We took many photos and video clips, so you will be seeing a new Dino clip very soon!

Mummy played hide and seek with me yesterday. When I found her, she ran away and I chased after her, of course! She probably forgot that I have four legs and can outrun her anytime. Anyway, I crossed her path, and mum tripped over me. She fell flat onto the ground and scraped her palm and knee caps. Poor Mummy, there was a bit of blood and now there is a big bruise on her right knee. Oops, but it really wasn't my fault. It's the first time Mummy fell when she is with me and she learned her lesson: Never play catch with Dino again!

I am getting so good at my nose trick and mum is having a hard time getting me to slow down. ;)

Mum went to Pet Paradise Asia 2007

Vet Huang gave mum a ticket to go to Pet Paradise Asia 2007, it is an annual event held at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. There were some fine looking dogs at the fair and as usual, there were also lots of goodies for pets and Mum bought me two giant bones, a dumbbell chewy toy and a squeaky ball.
