Let's go to Hongshulin Mangrove Swamp

We have always wanted to go to the Hongshulin Mangrove Swamp (紅樹林生態保留區) as it is near our home. It occupies about 76 hectares of land and it is the largest homogenous mangrove swamp of a type called shuibitzai.

One fine day, we decided to check it out, I was the only one enjoying the walk because Dad and Mom were both bitten by mosquitoes, luckily Ashley was spared.

The views of Danshui River and the Guanyinshan mountain are rather nice, but I guess it's going to be our first and last time there.

Please enjoy the short video below without the mosquito bites.

Introducing my Godparents!!!

Uncle Chen, Auntie Juliet and their friend, Auntie Joanne came to visit recently and brought lots of goodies for Ashley and I. I was really thrilled to see them and we had a great time together. Ashley and I bonded so well with Uncle Chen and Auntie Juliet and they decided that they are going to be our Godparents! How cool is that!

Here is my GodPa and GodMa!!!

We went to watch the sunset at Danshui River and I received a lot of attention from so many girls along the promenade and GodPa declared that I am a real Chick Magnet!

The GodFather & I.

A photo of us with Ashley.

On one of the nights, I took them to a restaurant by the beach, it's called Villa Sugar.
Address: 台北縣三芝鄉土地公坑54-16號
Telephone:(02)2636-1585
Opening Hours: 11:00 to 24:00

Food was nothing to rave about, but we really liked the ambience and Balinese furnishings.

Bar area.

Comfy seating areas.

These round rattan chairs are nice!

Outdoor seating area.

They have a resident black dog.

Godpa gave me lots of loving pets!

Can u tell that they were smittened by me?

Auntie Joanne loves me too!

I am looking forward to January next year because Godpa and Godma are planning to visit again! Yay!

Good Steak at Frank's Texas BBQ

Before Grandma left for Singapore, Dad, Mom and Ashley brought her out to dinner at a very nice steak house.

Frank's Texas BBQ (邊界驛站)
Address: 台北縣三芝鄉淡金公路18.1公里處
Telephone: 02-2636-1548
Operating Hours: 11:30am ~ 9:00pm
* Cash Only *

The restaurant was all packed on that Saturday night.

Staff were all wearing T-shirts with 48 oz. at the back. Apparently, if you are able to finish 40 oz. of beef steak, you would be eligible to take part in their 48 oz. challenge. Burp!!!

For starters, they had bread, soup and salad.

Over the Border wings - absolutely yummy, a must order at every table!!!

Grandma had the BBQ pork spare ribs.

Dad ate the Wrangler rib eye 10 oz special and

Mommy ate the Red wine pepper steak

All smiles after a good meal. They found out that the restaurant is dog-friendly too and I will be going next time. Yay!

Fun Day on Sunday

It was bright and sunny on Sunday and we headed off to my favorite park again!

I can't believe how good the weather was!

I got to meet so many furry friends!

Both big ones and small ones!

Here's Dad giving me a good hair brush after all that playing.

After a good run, Dad wanted to buy some cargo pants and so we went to Vieshow Cinemas for some shopping.

I met Super Cow and Black Cow!!!

It was feeding time for the humans and they had yummy set dinners at LA Cafe where they could dine outdoors with me.

I love Spring time with the lovely weather, I hope it stays that way so that we can have more fun days together.

How I spent the first day of 2009

I was already snoozing before midnight and Dad and Mom sneaked out to the roof top to watch the countdown fireworks exploding from the Taipei 101 Building.

The humans ate and ate non-stop during the holiday season and sadly, I did not get to enjoy their human food, but Mom did not forget to prepare a special meal just for me on New Year's Day!

What's for lunch, Mom?

Lamb, carrots, broccoli and rice!

How long do I have to wait?

Chomp...

Chomp....the bowl was cleaned up in no time!

After a satisfying meal, we went to my favorite dog park.

I got to meet some new friends.

We had a good little chat.

The vet says I am fat and need to lose some weight.

What do you think?

There is a cold wave right now in Taipei and I feel like cuddling up to take a nap, but before I do that, I would like to introduce a new friend, Sephy the Shiba Inu and Shania the Siberian Husky from California. Check out shibashake.com! There are many excellent articles there about the Shiba Inu breed, dog training and problem behaviors. Remember to stop by at their blog (http://shibashake.com/shibainublog) too! I am sure many of you will enjoy reading it as much as I did!

Keep warm, my friends!
